In this social event, there will be short presentations from several of our colleagues who may not have published at ICCBR recently followed by time to talk and interact with other attendees. This will give us a chance to re-connect with old friends, learn about their current work, and hopefully inspire conversations for later in the evening.

Title: Understanding second generation of goal reasoners: using formal grammars to model their semantics
Abstract: Kulkarni et al. (2016)'s h-DQN is a hierarchical deep learning architecture that explicitly reasons with the goals to be achieved and the actions to achieve those goals. In this brief presentation, I am going to give a quick overview of the architecture, analyze it relative to a few dimensions in the OODA framework and Aha (2018)'s goal dimensions, and hints of how to use formal languages to define its capabilities and limitations.
